The Children's Museum

The Children's Museum is located in the same park as the Royal Automobile Museum. There's not a lot of green in the "park," but there was this lovely crepe myrtle blooming up a storm.

And this looks like the workings of a huge fountain ...

The museum was partially funded by USAID and is designed to appeal to and be challenging for young children.  To my mind, it is a success.

One of the most popular exhibits was the construction site, complete with crane and hardhats.

This young lady took over the supervisor position and was soon running the operation.

The climbing wall was a popular attraction.

Everyone got involved in fixing this car.
There was also a pretend bakery where the young customer was seen arguing and waving his arms at the pretend baker.  And the grocery store where both girls and boys picked out pretend food stuffs and put them in their carts and then went to the checkout counter manned by the pretend clerk.

I'm not sure what this game is, but everyone, including parents were enjoying themselves.

A museum worker tries to corral the children into some sort of game. The little girl in the purple isn't sure what's expected of her.

It looked somewhat like "Mother May I."
And the educational message:  Water is our friend and the friend of the Oryx and needs to be conserved.

The Oryx, possibly the origin of the unicorn myth,  became extinct in the wild in 1972.  Even though there are reintroduction projects in several countries, including Jordan, the Oryx are still classified as endangered.
